With sales staff now working remotely more than ever, a system that makes quoting faster and easier is essential.

Flexile was designed from the ground up to make quoting of IT and Telco products easier and faster. In my 25+ years as a salesperson and sales manager I have been lucky enough to work for some of Australia’s most successful tech entrepreneurs.

The single biggest thing I learnt from Steve Baxter and Bevan Slattery at PIPE Networks was the importance of great systems and making your products easy to sell, and easy to buy.

Searching for the ideal system

I have implemented many SaaS and custom built solutions over the years to make quoting and ordering faster and easier and for me none completely hit the mark. They were either too expensive to set up, had terrible UI or they did not work at all.

At Vocus we built Vocus One to make it easier for our sales team and customers to quote and while it was an amazing success it was a very expensive custom-coded platform where adding new products required 3 month lead times.

The birth of Flexile

Over an amazing Thai meal (and a few beers…) with Jarrad Seers (technical creator of Vocus One) we decided we could build a better quoting system (CPQ) if we moved away from the way that CRMs and billing systems have traditionally handled products. Traditionally products are recorded as line items and each product variable results in needing another line item. For example if your product has 10 bandwidths and 5 contract terms you now have 50 line items in your system for one product. From my experience I can assure you this does not scale!

We envisaged a system where product variables were just that, a variable attribute of the product, and one where complex bundles could be easily created and easily quoted.

When designing Flexile we applied every lesson we learnt from working at Vocus , including building Vocus One, participating in more than 15 acquisitions and growing a business from 20 staff to over 3000.

Flexile allows you to create your products they way you want and it integrates into all your other systems that need to know about products, such as CRM, OSS/BSS, Billing etc. It also publishes a Product Catalogue of all your active products - no more out of date product Wikis!

Once the products and pricing are loaded then business logic is added so that sales can self quote with 100% accuracy. Flexile integrates with your CRM so that every time a quote is done in Flexile it adds it to your pipeline. As a Sales Manager this is super exciting - 100% accurate pipeline!!!
